Peter Selmayr founded tolltickets GmbH in December 2007. After working for many years as a consultant on building truck toll and billing systems across Europe, he had a key experience that happened in a traffic jam in front of a toll booth. He stood in Southern France at a temperature of 35 ° C in the shadow of an unending queue of vehicles in front of a tollbooth, while he watched eagerly as international trucks and national cars used the automatic lanes at the tollbooth and drove by the traffic jam. This long time gave him the opportunity to consider why it was not granted him and his fellow sufferers to use the automatic lane and to make the journey much shorter and stress-free without annoying downtime.
At that time there was no service provider who could offer a toll solution for the whole of Europe. The national toll operators are more likely to focus on the purely domestic market and in some cases do not offer foreign customers a solution if they do not have a domestic bank account.
Peter Selmayr realized his vision of a barrier-free European toll world and the possibility to offer everybody a comprehensive service by founding the tolltickets GmbH. Since then, the company has acted as a full-service provider for domestic and foreign customers and offers toll solutions for the whole of Europe from a single source. In recent years, the company has continued to experience strong exponential growth.
In February 2013 tolltickets became a full-service provider for fuel card issuers, with which the tolltickets GmbH maintains considerable cooperations. Among other things, it offers transaction processing and authorization services and acts as a supplier for a wide variety of toll products.
Since 2016, the Austrian corporation Kapsch TrafficCom is the majority shareholder of tolltickets GmbH. In the future, the two companies plan to work together to actively shape the European toll world in order to offer their customers and cooperation partners the best possible services.
The next milestone was achieved by tolltickets on 16.02.2018, when the German Federal Office for Goods Traffic gave tolltickets certification as an EETS provider, paving the way for the development of an own toll box for the whole of Europe.
